Chili cook-off

March 30, 2009

Hello all this is to say thank you to all that helped make the cook-off such a grand success. We had over 130 people pay to taste and 12 fantastic Chili’s to be judged. We had very successful auctions and THANK YOU RICK for such a great job as auctioneer. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and all seemed pleased with the results. The winners are First Place– Maria Lothridge, Texas, Second place– John Northcote, Canada, Third place– Bill Enell, Texas. We had three winners of the boobie prize– Martin Lively, Tom Costello and Marietta Arce. They all were okay with the fact and I hope their feelings weren’t hurt and they will join in the fun again next year. We will post again as soon as I have all the money figures complete. I do believe that we raised at least 500. dollars for the orphanage and that is FANTASTIC. So hope all had fun and will join us in some fun upcoming events. Some very nice ones are in the works. Love to all.

New Events Coming up

January 20, 2009

Hey Everyone! We are making plans for two new events and want you to know about them.

First is our Saint Valentines Day party!

We are having a party to celebrate the day of Love! We have been invited to have it at Diane & Herbs’ again. Since the New Years Eve Party was so great we thought it would be great to do it again. This time Tom & I are furnishing the meat & Gravy & Diane is doing the mashed potatos and all who sign up for the dinner are required to bring a side dish or dessert. We also ask you to bring what you want to drink. We do not charge for the great ambiance her home provides so just come and enjoy the experience with us as well as the fantastic view. Date 2/14/2009— Time 7:00 p.m. to ? Hope to see you there!

Second Event is 3rd Annual Chili Cookoff!

We are making the plans for the Chili Cookoff for 2009. We are hoping for more entries  this year but please plan on making lots more Chili this year as we are hoping for more judges to help decide who is the best Chili maker in the central valley. So come and enter or make plans to come judge. We have not settled on a location as of yet but are hoping to be able to get the same place as last year. We do have a Date– Feb. 28,2009 yes that’s a Saturday and we will have goodies for sale and hopefully some great entertainment for you to enjoy. Now don’t forget we are doing this for the Hogar De Vida and they can always use all the help they can get. We hope to sell T-shirts again and have some great things to raffle off again. So start making plans to come and have some fun and help the kids ok?

St. Nicolas Day Party by Kay and Meli

December 3, 2008

This is my first try at writing to a blog so bear with me.

We wanted to remind everyone of the  Christmas party at Kay’s Gringo Postres on Saturday, December 6 beginning at 5:00 PM. There will be good food, drinks, and fun for all. Meli is preparing some of her famous German dishes and breads and cookies. Kay is preparing salads and desserts and such so there will be plenty to eat. Erhardt is preparing “Glow Wine” as a starter.

Tickets are 7000 colones per person and attendance will be limited to sixty people. Also, each person is requested to bring a gift with a value of about 2000 colones. These will be pooled and distributed to the guests by Santa Clause at 7:00 PM. If you don’t like your gift you can try to trade with or steal from someone else.

Tickets can be bought from Kay or Melanie.

Hope to see you there,
